From download to first session
Install into Claude Code
Choose the website marketplace or a manual skill installation.
1Install the browser CLI
Use Node.js with npm installed. This release pins the CLI to match the bundled skill.

2Add this marketplace & install
Run in your terminal, outside Claude’s chat. HTTPS archive installs require Claude Code 2.1.224 or later; use the manual tab if your client is older.

3Start a new Claude Code session
Run claude, then enter this prompt. Plugin skills use a namespaced slash command.
/playwright-browser:playwright-cli Open https://example.com, inspect the page, and take a screenshot.
1Install the CLI & download the skill
Run npm install -g @playwright/cli@0.1.21. Then download the skill ZIP, which includes the skill, its references and license.
2Extract into your skills directory
For all projects, extract the ZIP into ~/.claude/skills/. For one project, use .claude/skills/ inside that project instead. The final layout should be:

└── PROVENANCE.mdWindows: use %USERPROFILE%\.claude\skills\. Avoid an extra nested playwright-cli directory. Back up any existing skill before replacing it.
3Start Claude Code & try it
Open a new session. A manually installed skill uses this shorter command:
/playwright-cli Open https://example.com, inspect the page, and take a screenshot.
Then ask something useful
“Use Playwright to inspect my local app. Test the navigation, check for console errors, and save a screenshot of anything that looks broken.”

Browser automation can submit forms and change account data. Review the skill, keep normal Claude Code permission checks enabled, and supervise sensitive actions. Treat page content as untrusted input. Never publish browser storage files containing login sessions.
